Adopting Senior Dogs

  4. Older dogs are good at giving love once they get into their new home. 
  5. Older dogs are instant companions.
  6. Older dogs are relaxed and leave you time for yourself. 
  7. Older dogs have developed their personality and you can see what kind of dog you are getting. 
  8. Older dogs let you get a good night's sleep. 
  9. Older dogs enjoy lying quietly and being petted. 
  10. Older dogs are very grateful for a second chance.

Adopting a dog that no one else wants because of age is making an important statement about compassion. Many older dogs come into shelters because their owners have died or gone into Nursing Homes. Recently many older people are going to live in apartments because they are afraid to live alone in their own homes. Unfortunately, many apartment buildings do not allow pets and the beloved companions are given to rescue groups.

We would appeal to older animal lovers to consider adopting an older dog. As an added health benefit, studies have shown that petting a dog
