Animal Clinic

Sydney Nagle MVB MRCVS is the principal of Cara Veterinary Group. Having qualified from University College Dublin in 1982, he spent a year working with large animals. Following that, he travelled to South Africa to work for a welfare organisation in the animal rescue centres, where he became an expertly skilled surgeon. He soon became their Chief Veterinarian and resided there for 12 years.

Upon his return to Ireland in 1995, he purchased and developed the Animal Clinic in Castleknock and a branch clinic at the Phoenix Park Gate. He then relocated the Castleknock branch to the River Road in Ashtown and remained there for 7 years.

Cara Veterinary Group is born!

Sydney went on to rebrand both clinics to form the Cara Veterinary Group; and relocated from the River Road to a state-of-the-art Hospital in Ballycoolin.

Today

Our standards, facilities and resources in Ballycoolin have since been recognised to be of such calibre, that upon inspection, the Veterinary Council of Ireland accredited our Veterinary Clinic as a Registered Veterinary Hospital (RVH) (the highest possible accreditation for a veterinary practice).

The four classifications of premises are as follows (from lowest to highest):

  • Registered Veterinary Practice (RVP)
  • Registered Veterinary Surgery (RVS)
  • Registered Veterinary Clinic (RVC)
  • Registered Veterinary Hospital (RVH)

This prestigious accreditation has been achieved thanks to our commitment to excellence and the hard-work of all of our staff to meet the Veterinary Council's exacting standards, a commitment few veterinary practices can match. By meeting these rigorous standards, we ensure that every animal receives maximum attention and results with the highest level of customer satisfaction.

The combination of the Group's facilities provides Syd and his team with an enhanced ability to provide superior medical care for our furry friends. Along with Tracey Carlisle and our expertly trained nursing and administration team, we are always on hand to provide advice and support on all aspects of your pet’s well-being, whether it be taking care of the family gerbil or how to brush your Rottweiler’s teeth!
