Tony McDonnell, Receptionist

Meet Tony McDonnell!

What is your job title in Cara Vets?

Receptionist

What made you want to be part of the veterinary world?

I love animals and had lots of them over the years. I got the chance to work in the Vets when Syd offered me a job. I have never left since.

When did you join Cara Vets?

About 2000.

What do you do?

I assist the Vets and help clients.

What do you love about your job?

Seeing pets, and talking to clients about them.

Who is one of your most memorable patients and why?

Gypsy Bell: very like my Scruffy.

Your pets' names and breeds?

  • Bobbi: Crossbreed
  • Fluffy: DLH
  • Snowey: DSH

How did you meet your pet?

  • Fluffy was born under the decking in the garden.
  • Bobbi: found in the Phoenix Park
  • Snowey: just made her way into our home.

What made you pick them, or maybe why did they pick you?

Fluffy picked me because I was a lost soul after Scruffy was gone. Bobbi was a very sick stray dog, so I took her in.

When did your pet come to live with you?

From 2011 until 2016, one after the other.

What does your pet enjoy doing and where?

  • Bobbi loves Lisa
  • Fluffy loves me coming home to my room.
  • Snowey is her own boss!

Any funny quirks / lazy / energetic things they do?

  • Bobbi growls at me, I think she is afraid of men.
  • I can't open a tin of tuna without Fluffy's paws dipping in.
